Legislation and Policy Guidelines
Roseville Kids Care operates in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations, which commenced on 1 January 2012. A copy of the legislation is available at the service for families to view, or you can access it online through www.acecqa.gov.au .
Our Policy Manual is also available for families to access and review via the QR code provided. We welcome and value feedback, suggestions and input from all families, as your contributions help us continually improve our service.
Child Protection
Roseville Kids Care believes that the welfare, safety and wellbeing of children is of paramount importance. The Educators support and promote the safety, wellbeing and rights of children. The Educators acknowledge their duty of care to ensure all children are provided with a high level of safety and protection and recognise their responsibilities regarding mandatory reporting, probity checks and dealing with allegations of child abuse and neglect. All educators have completed child protection and child safety training.
Educators actively supervise the children at all times, with educators using their professional judgement to determine the level and type of supervision required in each situation.
Priority of Access
Roseville Kids Care aims to assist families who are most in need and may prioritise filling vacancies with children who are:
o at risk of serious abuse or neglect
o a child of a sole parent who satisfies, or parents who both satisfy, the activity test through paid employment.
Providers are asked to (but are not legally obliged to prioritise children).
Roseville Kids Care’s policy is that children must be enrolled in Primary school in order to be eligible to attend the service.
Positive Behaviour Guidance
We aim to provide an environment where all children, educators and parents feel safe, cared for and relaxed and which encourages co-operation and positive interactions between all persons. Rules are based on safety, respect for others, cleanliness and those which help create a caring environment. Positive behaviour will be encouraged, each child’s unique characteristics will be positively acknowledged and self-discipline skills developed through example and direction.
The children and educators follow our service Promises. These promises guide us all to strive to respect ourselves, others and the environment.
The Promises are:
- I always try to act kindly towards myself and others
- I always try to speak kindly towards myself and others
- I always try to be kind to the land on which I play and grow
- It’s not a competition but I always try my best
Educators co-operate with families in order to better understand and to plan for each child’s needs. Meetings can be arranged via the Director to discuss your child’s progress in the OOSH environment.
Medical Information
It is Roseville Kids Care’s policy to always have a fully first aid, including CPR and asthma & anaphylaxis emergency, qualified educator available at each session. Should an accident occur, all possible steps will be taken to contact an authorised person, and our educators will take action as required. Children with contagious diseases are requested not to attend Kids Care for the duration of the illness. Parents will be contacted to collect their children if the children are sick.
If educators are required to administer long-term medication, permission must be obtained from the child’s authorised person, and appropriate records must be maintained regarding the administration of the medication. Roseville Kids Care has strict procedures in place regarding the administration of medication. If your child may require medication while in care, please speak with an educator in advance so that the necessary arrangements and documentation can be completed.
Qualified educators will provide first aid and administer medication in accordance with the Centre’s policies and procedures. All first aid and treatment provided will be appropriately documented.
Dropping Off and Picking Up
Roseville Kids Care accepts responsibility for children from the time children are signed in to care. On arrival the person delivering the child at the centre will be required to sign the child in on the sign in/out tablets located on the parent bench. It is requested that the person delivering the child make the child’s presence known to the educators on duty before leaving the child. Any special requirements can be communicated at this time. Children must be signed off the sign in/out tablets when collected in the afternoons. Should a child be collected by someone else rather than the parent; the person is to be authorised and signed permission must be given to the director. If this person is unknown to the educators they will be required to produce photo ID. A child will not be released into the care of a minor.
Non Attendance
Parents are requested to please notify Roseville Kids Care if your child will not be attending. Please email info@rosevillekidscare.com.au or text on 0410 589 380 or 0493 982 476 to notify of your absence. Fees are still payable for absences for permanent places. A $10.00 search fee will be charged if you fail to inform us of your child’s absence.
Complaints or Concerns
If a parent has a complaint or comment about the service, they will be encouraged to talk to the Director who will arrange a time to discuss their concern and come to a resolution to address the issue. If the complaint is not handled to the parent’s satisfaction at this level, they should discuss the issue with the President of the Management Committee. Alternatively they can contact the Regulatory Authority on information@earlylearningcommission.nsw.gov.au.
The Management Committee will discuss the issue with the Director and develop an appropriate strategy to address and resolve the matter. The issue will then be discussed further with the parent. If necessary, a meeting will be arranged between the Director, Management and the parent to work towards resolving the matter. The Director or Management will communicate the outcome and any decisions made regarding the issue to the parent.
